I am a daughter of two hard working parents who work in seasonal farm labor under the hot summer's sun. Like them, I work hard in the fields to try to make my own money and stop asking my parents for theirs. Since I do come from a nine member family, it is often difficult for my mom and dad to keep giving me money I need. As part of my college experience, I am apart of Educational Opportunity Program. A program serving low-income students who show potential to earn a higher education. I believe I am a good investment because of my dedication to reach my educational goals, through all the highs and all the lows. When the semester has begun in college, I attend class lectures to learn new things in the Criminal Justice field. I spend most of my time in the library, trying to stay on top of my readings or to complete group projects. I must admit as a Criminal Justice Major at Sacramento State, I have occupied my time with volunteering or finding an internship in that field as well. As my Spring Semester (2018) begins, I can already see what I will be doing. Most of my classes are Criminal Justice related such as Corrections, Policing, Gangs and Threats. Volunteering, interviewing professionals, and observing criminal cases in courts is what I am excited about. I can't wait to experience such amazing opportunities. During summers, I work with my parents in the fields saving up some cash for my educational expenses during the semester. This is a great help for my parents not only because I am not asking them for money, but also because in a way I work to purchase my textbooks and other related expenses. At home, I have four younger siblings that look up to me as a role model. As of now, I am can say I am satisfied for what I have accomplished. I am slowly paving a smooth road for them to continue their educational path in the near future. Although I am often placed under stress with college, I am determined to finish my college education at Sacramento Sates earning a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. I have learned to accept failure and mistakes because they are just windows of learning from my mistakes. I thank you in advance for your contribution when purchasing my shares.
