My name is Raquel Ugalde, a second year Mexican American college student at Western Michigan University, as well as the first out of my family to go to college. My goal is to obtain my bachelors degree in Biomedical sciences in order to attend Dental school. To reach my dream of becoming a Dentist and serve the overlooked minority groups. I would also like to develop my leadership skills and have been given the opportunity to attend the United States Hispanic Leadership conference. This conference inspired me to enhance the leader that I already am to become a voice for my people. Moving away from home was a big challenge for not only me but my family as well. However I have already started to become more independent and look forward to growing more academically and as an individual.
