I've worked in the fields picking tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, eggplants since I was about 10 years old. My parents have been in the fields picking for about 20-22 years doing the same work if not more. When I was a senior in high school I didn't think I was going to go to college that was until the CAMP ( College Assistant Migrant Program) recruiters came to my school and talked about their amazing program and all the benefits that they offer. Immediately I applied to join the CAMP program which is located at Michigan State University. Since then my plans for my future have drastically changed, If i hadn't made the decision to attend college right now i would be in the fields picking but instead now I have a goal a goal that not only going to help me but the people around me. After I finish my 4 years at MSU I will find a job that pays a decent amount and has benefits, after about 2 years i want to go back to MSU and get a higher form of education. Then after 5-6 years I want to start my own farm, I already have the support of my family, they know how a farm operated, how to plant, pick, they know almost everything there is to know about farms the only thing they dint know is the whole business side of running a farm and thats were i would come in.
