My name is Ivan Ceballos and I was born in Mexico. My family and I moved to the United States when I was 11 years old seeking for a better life because Mexico was not safe to live anymore. My parents and I move to Porterville where we started to work picking oranges in the area of Tulare and Bakersfield. I work during the weekends, winter break and summer. My parents and I work everyday that we can, the only days that we don't work is due to weather conditions as example when is raining. Also, I working with my parent during summer picking grapes to make raisins has show me that working in the fields is hard specially when you have to work when is 110 degrees. Likewise, the same type of conditions and pay are for the other jobs that my family and I work. In addition, I view farm working as a lesson that if you work hard, you will achieve your goals. This has affected my education and my future goals in a way that it has motivated me to work and study harder because a lot people look up to me to break the cycle of working in the fields.
