I have been in the agricultural fieldwork all my life, from working in my parents land in Mexico to being contracted to work in the fields. Both my parents are seasonal agricultural workers, my father mainly focuses on almonds; while my mother goes from any crop that is in season. I, on the other hand, focus on watermelon and almonds. I have been around many low-income families with this work experience. I have listened to their tragic stories of how they were injured on the job but could not afford to pay for physical therapy. My father personally experienced this situation which took a huge toll on our family, both financially and emotionally. I am determined to finish my education in physical therapy with a minor in business to be able to open up a business that is able to help low-income and farm working families rehabilitate from on the job injuries. I believe I have what it takes to fulfill this dream for the being that I have the experience and drive to keep moving forward. I am not only doing this for myself, but for all of those out in the fields who were not given the chance to obtain a higher education.
