I come from a small town called Porterville, California in the San Joaquin Valley. It is full of agriculture where many people are able to find jobs doing field labor. I was raised there my entire life until I went off to college after high school to Sacramento State University. There, I plan to graduate with my Bachelors in Communications with a focus on Public Relations and a Minor in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration and do event planning. I would also like to achieve a Master's in Counseling. Graduating with these degrees I plan to create an organization that will help disadvantaged students and give them the support they need to become successful. I also plan to give back to my community by doing outreach about what college has to offer after high school and that it can benefit them in the long run as they soon become successful people. With the major and minor I have, I know I can make my aspirations come true, especially when my true goal is to help others that are not well educated on what the world has to offer them. I believe I have already taken steps to reach my goal by becoming a student mentor intern for first-year incoming freshman for the College Assistance Migrant Program and becoming part of campus organizations such as Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority, Inc. which has helped me gain networking skills. There is still more about my campus that I want to explore and hopefully this year I can find new organizations and activities that will help me reach my goals.
