I was born to a migrant farm working family in Salinas, California an agricultural town in the Central Coast. My father since his arrival to the United States has been a farmworker. His job varies according to the agricultural cycle. My father became the only income source when my mother passed away in 2012. I graduated in the top 5% of my High School and went straight into a public university. I currently attend University of California, Davis and I have found my passion for medicine. I have personally experienced Latino Health disparities and want to pursue Medicine in order to be a physician the Latino/a community needs. I volunteer my time at a student run clinic in Sacramento, California in which I have learned how there is a huge lack of health care in the Latino communities. I am an investment because my ultimate goal is to be a physician in a farm working community providing bilingual health education and treatment.
