Farm work has been part of my family for many decades. Starting out with my paternal Great-Grandfather, then my Grandfather, My father, then my siblings and I. My dad has been a truck driver for over 20 years, and a couple of years ago my siblings, my mother, and I migrated from the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, to the state of Michigan where we worked in a blueberry packaging company for a couple of months. I am a first generation student at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas majoring in Social Work. My experiences as a migrant farm worker have taught me a lot and have sparked up a passion to fight for social and economic justice among Hispanic people working hard daily to accomplish what is called the American Dream. Receiving the Rising Farmworker Dream Fund would help me help my people in the fields and produce a better tomorrow with the right deserved.
