Since my parents moved to the United States they could never find many stable jobs. My mother has always had to work in the fields. The summer of 2016 my mother could no longer work due to the fact that she had to get surgery on her feet, she had developed spurs on the bottom of her heels. I had to help my father with bills so I went to the grape fields to help support my family. The days were unbelievably hot usually in the high 90's almost reaching triple digits. I had a different perspective on everything, this is strenuous work, this is people's life. With that experience it made me realize many things, two of those were, don't take things for granted and go to college. My ultimate educational goal is to get a degree in either psychology or criminology because I dream to become an agent at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I deserve to be an investment because I am a dedicated person, I have done over 400 hours of community service, with the Bakersfield Police Explorer program. I work hard, every position in clubs or extra-curricular activities that I have been apart of I have earned, such as senior class Vice-President, secretary of Key Club and a member of Link Crew. I am creative, I wanted to learn many instruments so I invested my time into teaching myself how to play the piano and ukulele through YouTube tutorials and some self knowledge that I had with my school orchestra by playing the violin and Chamber Choir, I am grateful that my high school has these fine arts programs, because my parents would have never been able to afford this.
